1st and 2nd series of Thai Emerald Buddha in winter clothing coin amulet in occasion of the Bicentennial Ratanakosin Era.

1st Edition of Thai Emerald Buddha coin amulet B.E.2525(1982 AD) in occasion of the Bicentennial Ratanakosin Era. Empowered by hundred of master guru monks.

The Emerald Buddha in winter clothing coin amulet is made of copper with black oil finish in occasion of the Bicentennial Ratanakosin Era Memorial Edition at the temple of the Emerald Buddha. This is the 1st series out of 2 series. It is a classic famous edition.

The coins were made in 3 seasonal clothing, which is a tradition held in the Temple of Emerald Buddha, to change the cloth adorning the Buddha as each season passes--hot, rainy and winter seasons.

More than a hundred master guru monks of the era attended the massive and official state ceremony of Putta Pisek blessing, to perform their incantations and empowerments. A large Putta Pisek blessing ceremony to empower the amulets was made with over one hundred of the Era's most powerful and accomplished master monks present.

The coin was included in the royal ceremony to celebrate 200years of Ratanakosin Era. The ceremony was held on the 6th of April 1982, with Royal permission to celebrate, which was requested by Prime Minister Prem Tinsulanon at the palace, and accepted. The celebration at the temple of the Emerald Buddha. This was one of various celebrations held in different monumental locations of Bangkok.

Apart from celebrating the Bicentennial Ratanakosin Era, it provided occasion for Thai to join the celebration of raising new temple roof struts ceremony.

The previous day alms were given to the Sangha as a preliminary on the 5th April, 1982 and then on the 6th the Brahman Kroo Masters and preformers of the Ministry of the Classical Arts performed a reading of the Poem Sadudhi Pra Put Maha Mani Ratana Patimakorn accompanied by the three stringed Thai classical instrument, with Bai Sri offerings and a Wien Tian(hold the candles and walk around the Ubosodha Shrine room for three times)

Since it was marked as a massive ceremony, and the coins were empowered and blessed by hundreds of master guru monk. There were extremely high demand, therefore, the second series was made under the Royal Permission and added letters on the reverse of the coin as "พระราชศรัทธา"(King's faithfulness) under the King Rama XI monogram to differentiate from the 1st series.

Happy Chinese New Year to All

From what I read online long time back, China, in 1995, enjoyed a very successful year. The economy continued to grow, however, the excessively rapid rate of growth of recent years was brought under control and the rate of inflation was reduced substantially.
I visited Beijing in 2007. Like everyone else, i took the tour to the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, the Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace and the Lama Temple. As we all know, China possesses the great ancient civilization. To see it with my eyes, it added astonishing feels, breathtaking and inspiring.

1 Chinese Yuan coin, minted in 1995 is Nickel plated Steel, weight of 6.1g, 25mm in diameter. I got this coin from the trip to The Lama Temple. To me it's a coin minted in the prosperous year of China. It's the coin of wealth and luck which i'd like to share the blessings to you all.

Wishing you a very happy Snake Year :)

Simplicity is beautiful

A New Zealand 50 cents coin is my all time favourite!!! It's not one of the rare coins of all but I truly fall in love with its meaning. The image of a barque described with the word "Endeavour".

According to my perception, traveling by a barque at the old time is not easy. It was full with obstacles from unpredicted situation such as weather, dangerous sea creatures, human themselves and so on. However, look at this from another angle, with physical and mental readiness, self-development, team spirits and strong will; the success is accomplished.

It remind me of the proverb "Where there is a will, there is a way"

What's your most favourite coin? :)

Good to know : The shop is named "Petra", the lost ancient metropolitan in Jordan, as it was my most memorable trip, moreover, in Thai, Petra(เภตรา pronounces as peh-tra) means a barque.
